Northern China's Hebei Province released its hydrogen energy development plan on July 19, planning to have 100 hydrogen refueling stations by 2025.

The province plans to build 25 hydrogen refueling stations by 2022, and the demonstration operation scale of fuel cell buses and logistics vehicles will reach 1,000 vehicles, and the demonstration of heavy-duty vehicles will achieve a scale of 100 vehicles.

By 2022, the province's hydrogen energy key equipment and its core components will be basically mass-produced, and the annual output value of the hydrogen energy industry chain will be RMB 15 billion.

By 2025, the province aims to make the scale of fuel cell vehicles reach 10,000 units, according to the plan.

By 2025, its advanced enterprises in the industry will reach 10-15, and the annual output value of the hydrogen energy industry chain will reach RMB 50 billion ($2.32 billion).

In terms of core technology, Hebei plans to basically form a technology R&D, inspection and testing system covering the whole chain of the hydrogen energy industry by 2022.

The province also plans to basically master the key technologies of efficient and low-cost hydrogen production, storage and transportation, refueling and fuel cell by 2025, and significantly reduce the application cost.

By the end of 2020, China had built a total of 118 hydrogen refueling stations, with 167 under construction as well as planned, according to a report by industry research firm EVTank at the end of last month.

There are 101 hydrogen refueling stations already in operation and 17 to be operated, exceeding the 2020 target, the report shows.

EVTank expects the number of hydrogen refueling stations in China to exceed 1,000 by 2025 and 5,000 by 2035.
