GAC Aion sold 10,403 units in June, up 190 percent year-on-year
GAC's electric vehicle brand GAC Aion, which targets the lower price range, enjoyed a strong sales performance in June.
GAC Aion announced on July 5 that its June sales increased 190 percent year-on-year to 10,403 units.
This is the second consecutive month that the brand has sold more than 10,000 units per month, and its May sales exceeded this threshold for the first time, increasing 154 percent year-on-year to 10,395 units.
GAC Aion models on sale include the Aion S, Aion Y, Aion V, and Aion S Plus, with the Aion S being the main selling model.
Sales of the Aion S in May were 4,905 units, with cumulative deliveries of 24,536 units from January to May 2021. The company did not announce sales of the model in June.
Its new model, the Aion Y, which was launched in April, has sold more than 2,000 units in two consecutive months.
In June, GAC Aion launched the Aion S Plus, an upgraded version of the Aion S. There are five versions of the Aion S, with a price range of RMB 139,600 ($21,661) to RMB 172,600 after subsidies.
The Aion S Plus is the second model launched after the announcement of the independent operation of GAC Aion. The new model has three versions of the NEDC range: 410km, 510km, and 602km.
Previously, Nio, Xpeng Motors, and Li Auto all delivered sales that looked good.
Xpeng sold 6,665 units in June, up 617 percent year-on-year. Its cumulative sales for the first half of the year were 30,738 units, up 459 percent year-on-year, and already exceeded deliveries for the entire year of 2020.
Nio delivered 8,083 units in June, up 116.1 percent year-on-year, the highest single-month sales volume for Nio. Nio delivered a total of 41,956 new vehicles in the first half of the year, up 196.1 percent year-on-year, reaching 95.9 percent of the company's full-year deliveries last year.
Li Auto sold 7,713 units in June this year, up 320.6 percent year-on-year. In the first half of this year, Li Auto delivered a total of 30,154 units of Li ONE, up 216.5 percent year-on-year.
In addition to the three new car makers, Neta Automobile and Leap Motor also performed very well in June.
Neta has sold more than 4,000 units for three consecutive months. 21,104 units were sold from January to June, an increase of 478 percent year-on-year.
Leap Motor's sales in June reached 3,941 units, up 893 percent year-on-year, with cumulative sales of 13,045 units in the first half of the year.
