Nio's first second-gen battery swap station in Shenzhen goes into operation
After Nio's second-generation battery swap stations in Beijing, Guangzhou and Hefei went into operation, the electric vehicle company's first new-generation facility in Shenzhen went into operation on April 29.
The battery swap station was built by Nio's Shenzhen branch in partnership with Shenzhen Pengcheng Electric Group, and is the first project to come to fruition as part of their partnership.
Wu Peng, Senior Director of Market Development of Nio's Power Management Department, said that the cooperation between Pengcheng and Nio will continue to improve the battery swap network in Shenzhen and provide a better charging experience for users of smart electric vehicles, giving more people the confidence to choose new energy vehicles.
Participants of this event included Gao Bo, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Bus Group, Lin Ruibin, Chairman of Pengcheng and more than 100 Nio users.
Liu Xiaoliang, General Manager of Nio Shenzhen, accompanied Gao to experience the second-generation battery swap station.
A few days ago, Nio recruited users online to participate in this event, and 100 slots were quickly filled.
There are already 36 battery swap stations, 16 supercharging stations, and 17 destination charging stations in Guangdong Province, where Shenzhen is located, with more than 86,000 charging piles.
Two days ago, Nio's first second-generation battery swap station in Guangzhou was put into operation, the first second-generation Nio battery swap station in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and Nio's 204th battery swap station.
On April 15, Nio's first second-generation battery swap station opened at the Sinopec Chaoying gas station in Beijing, the first charging facility built jointly by the electric vehicle company and the fossil fuel giant.
The second-generation battery swap stations cost less to build than the first-generation and have an expanded battery capacity of 13.
With the launch of the second-generation battery swap stations, Nio will accelerate the layout of battery swap stations and alleviate the current problem of battery swap resource constraints.
Nio's second-generation battery swap stations can serve up to 312 times a day, which is more than 3 times more efficient than the first generation.
In addition, the second-generation battery swap stations support automatic vehicle parking, and users do not need to get out of the car. With one-click in the car, the battery swap is automatically performed.
