This may be what Xpeng's lower priced sedan looks like
Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng Motors' lower-priced sedan, likely to be called the P5, features Xpeng's signature design at the front and rear with hidden door handles, a camouflaged spy image showed.
Another interior photo circulating on the Internet shows that instead of Xpeng's signature two large screens joined together, the car has a slanted center console similar to that of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class with a separate instrument panel.
Xpeng recently said it will release a compact sedan in the second quarter, positioned lower than the P7. This will be the world's first LiDAR-equipped vehicle.
Xpeng had announced a partnership with Livox Tech, incubated by Chinese drone company DJI, to use a custom vehicle-grade LiDAR for Xpeng in the car.
Rumors suggest that the entry-level P-series model, called the P5, will be mass-produced in October and delivered in the fourth quarter of this year for a price tag of RMB 150,000 ($23,033).
The car will be available in both high and low-range models, with an expected range of 450-600km at NEDC conditions.
Some believe the car will compete with electric sedans such as the BYD Qin Plus EV and GAC Aion S.
