German premium automaker Audi plans to launch six new energy vehicles in China this year in cooperation with China FAW, according to Werner Eichhorn, president of Audi China, at an online press conference.

The two companies are working together to increase the number of China-made Audi models to 12 by the end of 2021. By the end of 2022, Audi will offer Chinese consumers nearly 20 sports models covering all market segments, he added.

At the end of 2020, Audi confirmed its partnership with SAIC. In the future, SAIC Audi models will be produced by the joint venture SAIC Volkswagen, with the first SAIC Audi model to be launched in 2022.

In addition, the Audi FAW new energy joint venture project will be located in Changchun. In the future, this new energy joint venture will produce pure electric models based on the Premium Platform Electric platform jointly developed by Audi and Porsche, with the first model to be put into production in Changchun in 2024.

Even under the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Audi delivered a total of 726,288 vehicles to the Chinese mainland market in 2020, marking the first time ever that Audi's annual sales in China exceeded 700,000.

By 2023, Audi aims to achieve annual sales of one million vehicles in this most important global market.
