Alibaba-backed Auto-Navi Software Co., also known as Gaode Map, released its third-generation in-car navigation system on January 22, and Xpeng Motors is the first company to use it.

Gaode Map's third-generation in-car navigation capability has been upgraded from "Navigate Drivers" to "Navigate Drivers & Cars," using AI vision technology and high-precision maps to enable lane navigation and more accurate road planning and guidance.

Gaode said Xpeng is the first company to cooperate with it by relying on the independent research and development capabilities of its partner companies.

As a partner of Gaode Map, Xpeng will also be equipped with the "SR Autopilot Simulator Display" in its vehicles, which renders and visualizes the surrounding vehicles and road design based on on-board sensing capabilities.

On Xpeng P7, Gaode Map's third-generation navigation will work with the Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP) to make vehicles smarter.

NGP can show the boundaries and division of responsibility for human or vehicle driving and let drivers know when they need to take over the vehicle through risk scenario recognition and graded takeover alerts, according to Xpeng.

The feature also incorporates dynamic traffic data and environmental awareness data to bring lane level auto-navigation capabilities to the user.
