China's power battery output down 2.3% in 2020, lithium iron phosphate up 24.7% year-on-year
China's power battery production in 2020 reached 83.4GWh, down 2.3% year-on-year, according to data released on January 13 by Cao Guoqing, deputy secretary-general of the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance.
Among them, ternary battery production was 48.5GWh, down 12.0% year-on-year; lithium iron phosphate battery production accumulated 34.6GWh, up 24.7% year-on-year.
The production data includes the part produced by power battery companies in overseas bases, of which ternary battery production was 12.6GWh and lithium iron phosphate production was 3.3GWh.
Cumulative sales of power batteries in China in 2020 were 65.9 GWh, a decrease of 12.9% year-on-year.
Among them, ternary battery sales are 34.8GWh, down 34.4% year-on-year; lithium iron phosphate battery sales are 30.8GWh, up 49.2% year-on-year, the only product to achieve positive year-on-year growth.
In 2020, China's power battery installation volume accumulated 63.6GWh, up 2.3% year-on-year. Among them, the ternary battery installed volume accumulated 38.9GWh, down 4.1% year-on-year; lithium iron phosphate battery installed volume accumulated 24.4GWh, up 20.6% year-on-year.
