FAW Toyota’s new production line will be accomplished in the next year to produce small-size SUV models
Shanghai June 29th, 2017 ZXZC-Toyota announced its new TNGA structure on the 2017 Shanghai Auto show and introduced that more models based on TNGA would be launched into market. Currently, FAW Toyota is constructing its new production line to produce a series of new models based on TNGA. It’s known that TNGA’s new production line is planned to launch its new product, a new small-size SUV C-HR, in June of 2018.
Tianjin FAW Toyota witnessed the successful rolling-off for its 5mth vehicle on June 26th. In the meantime, Tianjin FAW Toyota is trying to construct the new production line for TNGA. The project for the new production line will need a total investment of RMB 5.4b to occupy an area of 570,000 square kilometers.
The new production line is expected to have an annual capacity of 200,000 units. The first period, with an annual capacity of 100,000 units, is planned to be accomplished in June, 2008. FAW Toyota plans to introduce more than 15 models by 2020 to achieve an annual sales target of 1m units.
FAW Toyota will introduce the new small-size SUV C-HR in 2018. The new model will continue the overall design for overseas version in exterior design. It will adopt the new design in interior decoration, with the 8-inch suspension-design touch panel supporting Toyota HMI man-machine interactive system. The new model will equip with a 1.2L inline 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with the maximum power of 85 KW and peak torque of 185 NM. It’s expected that 6-speed MT or CVT gearbox will be equipped. In the meantime, C-HR is expected to launch PHEV version in the future to equip with a power system combined from a 1.8L naturally aspirated engine and electric motor.
