Didi will reveal a model called D1 on Nov 16, possibly built with BYD
Chinese ride-sharing giant Didi will unveil a vehicle called the D1 on November 16, a poster released by the company today showed.
This comes on the heels of media reports that Didi plans to work with BYD to create a test batch of vehicles designed for the ride-hailing service, called the BYD Qin D1, which will go on sale in mid-December.
As Bitauto (NYSE: BITA), the Chinese Internet car service provider founded by Nio (NYSE: NIO) founder William Li Bin, reported last week, one of the highlights of the car is the asymmetrical door openings, with a side-sliding door on the right side and a traditional door opener on the left.
In terms of dimensions, the BYD Qin D1 has a length, width and height of 4390/1850/1650mm and a wheelbase of 2800mm.
The new car will be powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which has a maximum power of 100kW and a maximum torque of 180Nm.
It will also use a lithium iron phosphate blade battery, NEDC range of 418km and power consumption of 12.8kWh per 100km, the car will be mainly used in the commercial market.
