Tesla Model S Plaid starts taking orders in China, prices start from about $173,000

Shortly after taking reservations on the North American website, the Tesla Model S Plaid started taking reservations in China, with the same expected delivery date of late 2021.

The Model S Plaid is priced at RMB 1,174,900 yuan (about $173,000), according to the information published on Tesla's Chinese website. That compares to prices starting at $141,100 in the US.

The Model S Plaid accelerates from 0-100 km/h in less than 2.1 seconds, has a top speed of 320 km/h and a range of over 840 km.

The car comes with Pearl White paint as standard, with Black, Silver, and Blue paint all costing an additional RMB 13,900, and Red RMB 23,600. The wheels come with 19-inch wheels as standard, while the optional 21-inch wheels cost an extra RMB 42,500.

The interior comes standard with a black interior, which can be had in black and white or light beige for RMB 13,900.

Assisted driving is also standard with the basic version of the Assisted Driving feature, which costs RMB 64,000 with the option of fully automatic driving capability.
