Geely Automobile Group on September 23 announced the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) for pure electric vehicles. At the same time, the Lynk&Co ZERO concept, the first all-electric luxury coupe based on this architecture, made its public debut, and it will go on sale in mass production in 2021.

An Conghui, CEO and president of Geely Holding Group, said that the SEA architecture, which took four years to develop and more than RMB 18 billion was invested, can reduce the software development time by more than 50 percent.

The SEA architecture is an important achievement of Geely's technological transformation from an automobile manufacturer to a travel service provider, marking Geely's entry into the system promotion stage of intelligent electric vehicles, the company said.

According to Geely, based on the SEA architecture, more than seven brands, with a total of more than 16 new models, have started research and development in different market segments.

An Conghui said: "According to the existing plan, a number of new models based on the SEA architecture will be launched to the market from 2021, and 2021 will be the year when Geely's technology transformation and smart electric vehicle development will be at full speed."

The SEA architecture enables full size and type coverage from A-Class to E-Class, meeting the full styling needs of cars, SUVs, MPVs, small city cars, sports cars, pickups and future mobility vehicles. This architecture covers the wheelbase range from 1800mm-3300mm.

The SEA architecture is based on a 2-million-kilometer-life power battery which can serve 200,000 kilometers without degradation.

The NEDC range of the 110kWh modeless CTP integrated battery pack exceeds 700km and the maximum wheel-end torque can reach 8000N-m.

In terms of automated driving, An Conghui said that the SEA architecture is already capable of fully automated driving using the technology lines of Advanced Assisted Driving, Highly Automated Driving and Fully Automated Driving.

It is planned that personal vehicles based on the SEA architecture will be highly automated on structured roads by 2021 and on open roads by 2023.

It will be the first to achieve fully automated driving on structured roads in 2022, and will provide intelligent travel services in the core area of the Asian Games in 2022. It will achieve fully automated driving on open roads by 2025.

The ZERO concept, the first product built on the SEA architecture and the first intelligent electric vehicle from the Lynk&Co brand, was unveiled for the first time at the launch.

The ZERO concept is positioned as a purely electric luxury coupe, with a length of nearly 5 meters and a wheelbase of 3 meters.

Geely says that the ZERO concept can achieve an NEDC range of over 700km and 0-100km acceleration time of less than 4 seconds.

The model also comes with frameless design induction electric doors and fully adjustable air suspension.

The production version based on the Lynk&Co ZERO concept will be launched in 2021.

Intel said its Mobileye division will help power the driving-assistance technology in the Zero Concept.

Intel also said it has an agreement to equip a variety of Geely Auto Group makes and models with Mobileye vision-sensing technology.
