Nio today announced that the Nio EC6 has been shipped to Nio Centers in 10 cities across China this month, and interested consumers can visit these locations to find more about this new vehicle.

The ten cities are Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, Hefei, and Wenzhou.

The EC6 is Nio's third production vehicle, positioned as a smart electric coupe SUV, and it was first unveiled at Nio's 2019 Nio Day event last December.

At that time, Nio did not announce the price of the EC6, only that it would be delivered in September 2020. William Li Bin, the founder of Nio, said at the 2019 Nio Day event, "There will be other equally good coupe SUVs (launched) next year, such as the Tesla Model Y. Allow us to maintain some market flexibility. "

The Nio EC6 went on sale during the Chengdu Motor Show in July this year, with an official guide price of RMB 368,000 - RMB 526,000 yuan.

This price should be lower than the Tesla Model Y, which is currently estimated at RMB 444,000-RMB 535,000 yuan.

The EC6 is offered in six variants, with two options each for the Signature, Performance, and Sport editions.

The Signature and Performance editions are equipped with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system consisting of a 160 kW high-performance permanent magnet motor and a 240 kW high-performance induction motor. It has a peak power of 544 hp, a maximum torque of 725N-m, and an acceleration time of 4.5 seconds at 100 km/h.

The Sport model is equipped with 160 kW dual permanent magnet motors front and rear.

The EC6 is currently powered by a 70 kWh battery pack, and Nio will also offer a 100 kWh battery pack option.

Nio's products are currently equipped with two battery packs, 70 kWh and 84 kWh, and it plans to deliver models with 100 kWh battery packs in the fourth quarter of this year.

With the EC6 equipped with the 100 kWh battery pack, the NEDC range will be up to 615km.

Senior auto analyst Ren Wanfu said that the Nio EC6 is Nio's latest placement in the RMB 350,000 - RMB 500,000 range. The car is quite competitive in terms of appearance and technological attributes, and he thinks the EC6 should have good sales.
