BAIC Senova new MPV will be launched and is expected to be named as “V50”
Shanghai June 2nd, 2017 ZXZC-BAIC Senova brand has various products in car and SUV markets, but no MPV model has been launched yet. Top managers in BAIC Motor once said that, “BAIC Motor has basically completed the product plan till the end of 2020. Apart from the rich production lines in SUV and car markets, BAIC Senova is planning to launch MPV model.”
It’s learned that BAIC Motor has registered “V50” trademark, and it is expected to be used in the new MPV model. Relevant leaders in BAIC Motor said that, “BAIC Motor has basically completed its production plan till the end of 2020, and SUV models are covering A0-class, A-class and A+-class products. A-class and A+-class cars have been launched, and the MPV model is also planned. Production lines will cover all mainstream sub-markets. In the future two or three years, the second generation of BAIC Motor products will join in the second round of competition.” It’s said that the new model is expected to be launched and sold in 2018.
According to the “13th-five” product update planning, BAIC Motor will divide its product layout into three periods. The first period starts from 2015 till the end of 2016, during which BAIC Motor will complete its first generation models’ launch. The second generation models will be launched in 2017 and 2018 to accomplish self-independent brands’ profits and intelligent inter-connection. The third period focuses on 3-4 vehicle platforms or 1-2 modular platforms.
Currently, BAIC Motor is undergoing its 2.0 product layout period. It has launched the new Senova D50, Offspace D70 and new Senova X55. BAIC self-independent brands have planned D, F and high-end platforms. The first product will be launched in 2017. Flagship models based on high-end platform will be launched in 2018. D platform will produce A-class models including sedans and SUV models. F platform will produce B-class models including cars, SUV and MPV models. It’s expected that BAIC Senova will be produced on the “F platform”.
