Will the launch of Hongqi H5 revive “Republic’s eldest son” reputation?

After it was officially positioned as ambassador car in 1964, “Republic’s eldest son” Hongqi car represents the highest courtesy in meeting foreign guests. It gradually becomes a national symbol afterwards.
But the shining light cannot last long. Its small market share brings regrets in many people’s heart. However, Hongqi is trying to make breakthroughs. Last year, Hongqi brand was separated from FAW Group, introducing more fashionable factors in designing styles.
It’s said that Hongqi H5 will be launched into market recently. The exposed picture shows that the B-class model will use straight waterfall-type chrome-plated intake grilles, displaying sporting lines in car body. The pure black style in interior decoration also displays qualitative, while the body size of 4,935*1,840*1,470mm and wheelbase of 2,870mm also make full use of interior space. The suspension-type central control LCD panel and screen also conform to current domestic customers’ demands. The H5 model will equip with a 1.8T turbo-supercharged engine, with the maximum power of 178 horse power and peak torque of 250 NM, equipping with 6-speed AT.
Low R&D efficiency, single sales channels and lack of internal innovation are the main factors that block Hongqi’s developments in these years. We’ll wait to see H5’s market performance.
