Xpeng's factory gets nod for production, paving way for in-house manufacturing of P7
Xpeng Motors today announced that China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has just issued the 332nd batch of "Announcement of Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturing Enterprises and Products", in which Xpeng is released as a licensed full vehicle manufacturer.
According to Xpeng, this means that Xpeng has finally finalized its manufacturing qualification as a company with a production qualification and manufacturing capacity in its own factory.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Xpeng Smart Netlink Technology Industrial Park in Zhaoqing was completed in December 2017, which is Xpeng's world's first self-built complete vehicle production base.
Zhaoqing Xpeng Intelligent Network Link Technology Industrial Park is planned to cover a total area of 3,000 mu, including 1,500 mu for the whole vehicle production project.
The factory is equipped with five workshops: stamping, welding, painting, assembly and packing, with four different types of flexible production lines and one flexible battery assembly line, and a total of 264 intelligent industrial robots.
All the production workshops of Zhaoqing factory have been fully topped off in September 2019, after which pre-production and equipment commissioning will be carried out, and the whole production process has been run through and verified by the Xpeng P7 engineering test vehicle in small batch.
