Tesla responds to Shanghai plant not opening on schedule
In response to today's report that the Tesla Shanghai factory may be shut down due to a lack of overseas parts, Tesla China offered a clarification.
"The Tesla Shanghai factory is in the process of adjusting normal production arrangements and is debugging and maintaining the production line through this holiday period, and all aspects of the work are proceeding as planned," Tesla China said.
Earlier today, it was reported that Tesla's Shanghai plant did not open on the 6th as scheduled since the May 1st holiday, and that this shutdown will continue until the 9th.
According to a Tesla insider, "Only some of the processes are still being maintained, but the assembly line is not open and the full vehicle is not expected to come off the line until the 9th."
As for the reason for the shutdown, multiple Tesla employees and industry sources revealed that "at least part of the reason is overseas parts supply issues."
