Tesla Shanghai Plant Phase II has started construction of roof
Although it has been under construction for several years, Tesla's super factory in Nevada, U.S.A., still maintains about 30% of the completion schedule, and the first phase of the Shanghai plant was completed less than one year after the groundbreaking ceremony. Now, the construction of the second phase of the Tesla Shanghai plant is progressing rapidly, and it seems to be completed earlier than expected.
Tesla fan Jason Yang recently used a drone to take pictures of the Shanghai plant, showing the latest progress in its construction.
As can be seen in the picture, the second phase of the Tesla Shanghai plant is larger than the first phase, consisting of two large buildings (currently referred to as Tesla Phase 2A and 2B), which are now connected.
Jason Yang even said that the basic construction of the 2A building has been completed and the steel structure is currently under construction. There are now several pile drivers on the construction site of Phase 2B, which suggests that foundation construction work may begin soon.
Even more striking is that a small part of the roof truss structure of the Phase 2A building is already under construction. Previous experience shows that the foundation construction is completed and the construction of the roof truss of the building begins, and the progress of the first phase of the project will be greatly accelerated.
In view of this, the construction of the second phase of the Shanghai plant will become faster from now on.
Tesla's Shanghai plant is making rapid progress and has now become the standard for all Tesla construction projects. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has already requested the Berlin plant in Germany that its first phase should be completed in about the same time as the first phase of the Shanghai plant.
So far, Musk's request appears to have been implemented. Despite the outbreak of a new coronavirus, construction of the Berlin plant is continuing at a fairly rapid pace.
Little is known about the intended purpose of the second phase of the Shanghai plant. The first phase of the park will be used to produce domestic Model 3, and the 1.5 phase of the park (near the building) will be used to assemble powertrains and battery packs.
The second-stage project is even larger, which means that it is likely to be used not only for Model Y production, but also for solar roofs.
