SUVs Explore Chinese Market in Fierce Competition
SHANGHAI April 25th, 2017 ZXZC – The battle for SUVs to scramble Chinese market has been more and more seriously. According to data from CAAM (China Association of Automobile Manufacturers), SUV has kept a high-speed growth of 44.6%, which is much faster than sedan, MPV and cross passenger car. The newest data announced by CAAM in March showed that, only SUV kept a positive growth with 83.23 units cars sold and achieved a year-on-year growth of 19.59%, while segments for sedan, MPV and cross passenger car all declined.
Luxury brands also started to concentrate on Chinese market these years because of its healthy growth of SUVs. Brands like Bentley, Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini all started to list their first ultra-luxury SUVs.
It was reported that, Urus, the first SUV of Lamborghini, will debut in Italy in the end of this year. Stefano, president and CEO of Lamborghini Automobile Co, Ltd revealed that Lamborghini expects to have its sales doubled to over 7000 units each year from about 3500 units a year with this SUV.
Lincoln has already benefited in SUV market. Lincoln has sold 32558 units cars in 2016, a year-on-year growth of 180%; and it has sold 11731 units cars in the first quarter of 2017, a year-on-year growth of 114%. Analysts thought sales increase of Lincoln were mainly profit from SUVs. The automaker has recently announced that, it will list its first domestic SUV for Chinese market in 2019.
Although luxury brands began their layout in Chinese market, SUVs range from 60-150 thousand yuan have a fiercer competition.
According to data from automakers for the first quarter of 2017, sales of Haval H6, Trumpchi GS4, Haval H2, Tiguan, Changan CS75 and Baojun 560 ranged the Top 6, with sales of 118.8K, 89.2K, 72.5K, 71.1K, 69.5K and 67.3K units respectively. All the models range from 60-150 thousand yuan expect for Tiguan.
Jiang Lin Motor has had its Yu sheng S330, S350, the brand new 7-seat crossover concept car and two new-energy vehicles were debut on this year’s Shanghai Auto Show to compete for SUV market with a low price. Leopaard also had its new product Leopaard CS9, which adopts 1.5L engine and 5MT/ CVT dynamic combation, listed on the show.
