Parts-to-whole price ratio of some Benz models exceeds 800%
China Insurance Association and China Automotive Maintenance and Repair Trade Association released the research product on parts-to-whole price ratio in Beijing on April, 25th. The ratio reaches 327.96%, with ordinary parts burden index reaching 14.92 and several Benz models exceeding 800%.
Parts-to-whole price ratio is sales price ratio between auto parts and whole vehicles, which reflects the auto maintenance cost in ordinary use. Auto parts price data till March this year shows that Beijing Benz GLK-class has the largest ratio of 830.49%.
The above two associates also calculate ordinary parts burden index for common vehicle models. Result shows that Beijing Benz C-class vehicles have the maximum number of 28.82.
It seems that ordinary parts burden index rises slowly when parts-to-whole price ratio declines for three consecutive periods. Some high-end imported brands still have high ordinary parts burden index and parts-to-whole ratios.
But the two associates also remind that some brands are increasing prices for ordinary parts, and consumers should treat the phenomena rationally.
Because domestic market has many models and it is difficult to collect data, only limited models are covered in the ratio research. The two associates have established calculation methods and statistical standards. It is appealed that all social parties should take part in the research and protect consumers’ rights and interests.
