Dongfeng, Nissan to recall 1,635 Infiniti vehicles
BEIJING — Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor and its partner Nissan China Investment Co will recall 1,635 vehicles over defects in the air bag restraint systems, China's top quality watchdog said.
Dongfeng plans to recall 1,132 vehicles of China-made Infiniti Q50L model manufactured between Oct 23, 2014 and May 5, 2017, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement.
Dongfeng will also recall 455 vehicles of QX50 model manufactured between Jan 26, 2015 and March 25, 2017, according to the statement.
The Nissan recall involves 48 of imported Infiniti Q50 produced between March 17, 2014 and Jan 9, 2017.
The flawed side airbags in the cars could be less effective than qualified products in possible collisions and potentially pose danger to drivers, said the statement.
The recall will start on Sept 28, with the companies promising to replace faulty parts for affected car owners for free.
