Volkswagen delivers 1 million vehicles in China in Q1

TIANJIN - Volkswagen Group China registered strong sales in the domestic market for the first quarter of 2018, the company announced on Tuesday.

The company, along with two joint ventures - SAIC Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen - delivered 1.01 million automobiles to the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong in the first three months, up 13.4 percent year-on-year.

Sales of several of the company's brands hit record highs, it said.

Volkswagen sales reached 755,700 units, up 8.6 percent year-on-year, with SUVs the main growth driver. Four new Volkswagen SUV models will be introduced this year, the company said.

Sales of Audis hit 154,300 units, increasing by 41.9 percent, while Skoda sales registered strong growth of 18.6 percent to 79,200 units.

Meanwhile, the sales of Porsches topped 18,600 units during the same period.

Volkswagen is the largest automotive manufacturing company in Europe, with 12 vehicle brands, including Audi, Lamborghini, and Bentley, delivered to more than 150 countries and regions worldwide.
