BEIJING - China's carmaker Dongfeng Motor will recall more than 72,000 vehicles due to defective ignition locks, according to the country's market regulator.

The recall, starting from Oct 12, will involve 72,561 cars, including Livina, Sylphy, New Lannia and Qichen models manufactured between March and November 2017, according to a statement from the State Administration for Market Regulation.

Defective ignition locks on mechanical keys might cause stalling and cause safety hazards, the statement said.

The company will replace the defective ignition locks free of charge.
