BEIJING - Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co Ltd, a joint venture between China's Dongfeng Motor Corp and Japan's Honda Motor Co, has issued recalls for 29,297 Inspire sedans over an engine design flaw, according to China's market regulator.

The recall, in effect from Aug 30, involves some Inspire sedans manufactured between March 8, 2018 and Aug 8, 2019, said a statement on the website of the State Administration for Market Regulation.

A design flaw in the engine may cause condensed water to enter the combustion chamber, forcing the engine into a protection mode of limited acceleration and posing safety risks, according to the statement.

The company said it would install devices to offset the effects of the design flaw free of charge.
