BYD’s battery capacity increase 60% this year, 8 new models will be launched

Shanghai February 9th, 2017 ZXZC-Sales volume of BYD’s alternative energy vehicles exceeds 100,000 units in 2016, growing 63.93% with the 61,000 units in 2015. In 2017, BYD plans to make more breakthroughs in alternative energy vehicle market.

Official news comes that BYD is expanding 6GWh capacity in Kengzi Base, which will be put on production in the next year. Besides, BYD also plans to launch 8 alternative energy vehicle models into market afterwards.

Currently, BYD owns two power battery bases in Huizhou and Kengzi respectively, with total annual capacity of 10GWh. The expansion plan on Kengzi Base will increase 60% of the total annual capacity to 16GWh, able to provide battery for 960,000 units’ BYD PHEVs.

BYD has released two BEV models of Qin EV300 and E5 in the first half of 2016. Tang 100 with battery range of 100 kilometers, Qin 100, Song and Yuan DM PHEV models will be launched in 2017. Besides, Song EV, Yuan EV and new-generation Tang and Qin will also be put into market, promotion the continuous growth of BYD’s auto business.

As a plug-in PHEV middle-size SUV, Tang’s battery range reaches 80 kilometers and will rise to 100 kilometers after its new generation being launched in Q1, 2017. Besides, 7-seat model can be expected under the new generation Tang.

Song DM is another key model for BYD’s “542” strategy. The new model adopts dual engine and motor power technology, equipping with Electric AWD and able to travel in mountain roads, snow roads and sand roads. Its accelerating time for 100 km reaches 4.9s, and fuel consumption for every 100 km can be as low as 2L, while its battery range turns out to be 80 kilometers.

As the first BEV SUV, Song EV300 has a comprehensive range of 300 km. Its appearance will keep consistent with the fuel version.
