BEIJING - Changan Mazda, a joint venture between Chongqing Changan Automobile and Mazda, will recall 77,112 vehicles due to defective fuel pumps, according to China's market regulator.
Starting from Nov 22, the recall will involve the second generation of home-made Mazda CX-5 models manufactured between Aug 8, 2017 and July 2, 2019, according to a statement on the website of the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Defective parts in the fuel pumps of the recalled vehicles may lead to fuel disruption and unintended engine stop in extreme cases, said the administration.
Changan Mazda has promised to replace the faulty components free of charge to eliminate safety hazards.
