GMMC  to Have Two Imported SUVs in 2017

SHANGHAI January 2nd, 2017 ZXZC –CMMC currently has a total of three SUVs, namely Outlander, ASX and Pajero Sport. After confirming “SUV+ new energy” as the core of development, GMMC plans to further expand its lineup in the future.

According to insiders of GMMC, the company is to import two SUVs for domestic market in 2017, including Outlander PHEV listed in Japan and Pajero Sport made in Thailand.

A Compact SUV: Outlander PHEV

A new version of Outlander PHEV was listed in Japan in July, 2015. Now 90% of Japan’s Outlanders are PHEV. The MP model of new Outlander PHEV adopted the design philosophy of Outlander PHEV Concept-S vehicles, and combined the new Dynamic Shield design language, with an “X”-shape face. In April 2016, at the Beijing Auto show, Outlander PHEV had its first debut for domestic market.

The car was equipped with a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine, with a maximum power of 87kW and a peak torque of 186Nm. Besides, it was equipped with an electromotor both on the front and rear axles. The rated power of the front electromotor is 25kW, with a maximum power of 60kW and a peak torque of 137Nm; the rated power and maximum power of rear electromotor are the same with front electromotor, but its peak torque can reach 195Nm.

There are two modes of charging for Outlander PHEVs, fast one and ordinary one. Being fully charged, the Outlander PHEV can drive as far as 60.8km with pure electric mode, 0.6km increased compared with the old version. The car also has three modes of working, namely EV mode, hybrid mode with series connection and parallel hybrid mode.

Middle-sized SUV: Pajero Sport of Thailand

GMMC launched the third generation of Pajero Sport in August last year, on the Bangkok International Auto Show in Thailand. The new car adopted Dynamic Shield design language as well, with an “X”-shape face decorated with a mass of chromeplate. The car has a length of 4785mm, a width of 1815mm and a height of 1805mm. Its wheel base was 2800mm long, with a 2+3+2 seats layout.

The Pajero Sport was equipped with a Super-Select 4WD system and it can switch between 2WD high-speed, 4WD high-speed and 4WD low-speed. As for power, there is only a 2.4T diesel version of Pajero Sport in Thailand. The car will add its gasoline version when being imported to China and change right-hand driving to left-hand driving.
