Ontime, a mobile transportation platform headquartered in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, has launched its service in Shenzhen, marking a milestone in its business expansion in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The platform has introduced the smart sharing transportation service in Shenzhen by providing the first batch of 1,000 new energy cars in the city's downtown districts of Luohu, Futian and Nanshan, as well as part of the Bao'an, Longhua and Longgang districts.

The innovative platform, which was jointly founded by GAC Group, a leading automobile maker in Guangdong, technology giant Tencent Holdings Ltd and other investors, first launched its service in Guangzhou in June 2019.

The service was later introduced to Foshan and Zhuhai, two important business and trade cities in the Greater Bay Area, in August 2020 and April, respectively.

"The smart transportation service, starting from Guangzhou, will gradually cover major cities in the Greater Bay Area," said Jiang Hua, CEO of Ontime.

The company has developed a self-innovative one-stop data management and operation system to ensure efficient and safe transportation service for customers, according to Liu Zhiyun, chief technology officer of Ontime.

"Advanced technologies including artificial intelligence and automatic speech recognition in the technology system to upgrade our service," Liu said.
