Great Wall Motors sales up 6.2% in May
China's largest pickup and SUV maker Great Wall Motors sold 86,965 vehicles in May, up 6.2 percent from the same month last year, according to statistics the company released on Tuesday.
Its sales in the first five months of the year totaled 518,000 units, surging 65.3 percent year-on-year, said the carmaker.
Great Wall Motors have five brands, including Haval, Ora, Wey as well as Tank. Haval vehicle sales in May reached 53,849 units, accounting for 62 percent of the carmaker's total sales in the month.
The H6 SUV was the best-seller, with 26,059 units sold in May, up 14.8 percent from the same month last year. The model was China's most popular SUV model for 96 months in a row.
The carmaker's pickup deliveries in May stood at 20,418 units, bringing the total in the first five months this year to over 100,000, which accounted for around half of total pickup sales in the country.
Great Wall Motors' electric car brand Ora saw its sales from January to May total 41,756 units, up 514 percent year-on-year.
The carmaker continued its overseas expansion as well. Last month, its sales in international markets exceeded 10,000 units, up nearly 558 percent year-on-year.
