The fourth China International Import Expo, or CIIE, slated to be held from Nov 5 to 10 in Shanghai, will attract the top 10 automobile manufacturers around the world for the first time to display the latest developments and future of the world's automotive industry.

The automakers — Toyota, Volkswagen, Daimler, Ford, Honda, General Motors, BMW, Hyundai, Nissan, and Kia — will showcase their newest products, technologies and solutions at this year's expo, said Tong Minqi, exhibition director of the automobile exhibition area, during an introductory session on Thursday, China News Service reported.

The auto exhibition will continue to have a smart mobility display area this year, covering an 8,000 square-meter zone. Industrial leaders such as Bosch, Michelin, Mobis and Faurecia will demonstrate their latest solutions in sectors such as autonomous driving, intelligent network, new energy vehicles and auto chips, Tong said.

Covering an area of 30,000 square meters, the automobile exhibition this year has attracted more than 50 enterprises, with over 60 percent of them Fortune 500 companies and industrial pacesetters, according to a Securities Times report on Thursday.

Carbon reduction products, technologies and solutions will feature at the exhibition with multiple world debuts from automakers, including the hydrogen fuel cell system of Toyota, the Hummer electric pickup truck of General Motors, as well as the world's first hydrogen-powered endurance race car by Michelin.

Intelligent transportation will be further explored at the fifth CIIE, which will be held next year and has already started recruited exhibitors. Besides automobile displays, the auto exhibition will be expanded to a more mixed demonstration, consisting of automobiles with roads, pedestrians, and cities, the report said.
