Hongqi, the premium arm of China's FAW Group, sold a record number of 35,000 vehicles in October, up 52 percent year-on-year.

Its deliveries from January to October totaled 236,000 units, marking a 54 percent rise from the same period last year.

The sales could have been higher without the COVID-19 pandemic and the chip crisis, said the carmaker.

Hongqi said up to 94 percent of its vehicles this year were sold as private cars, indicating its growing popularity among the public.

The carmaker has recently partnered with China's Wanda Group to reach more potential buyers.

The first group of Hongqi showrooms in downtown plazas are expected to open in the first half of 2022, said Hongqi.
