BEIJING -- Sales of China's pickup trucks registered steady growth last month, data from the China Passenger Car Association shows.

A total of 34,000 units of pickup trucks were sold in February, rising 8 percent year-on-year. The figure represented a 20-percent increase compared with the same period in 2019, said the association.

In the first two months of the year, pickup truck sales amounted to 76,000 units, down 4 percent year-on-year.

The country's recent lackluster housing market will subdue the consumer demand for pickup trucks, the association said, adding that the pickup truck sales will be under pressure.

However, the association remains bullish on the future performance of the pickup truck market as pickup consumer culture becomes more popular.
