Tesla has reported record electric vehicle deliveries for their first quarter, amid the lingering global pandemic and supply chain challenges.

The electric car maker delivered 310,048 vehicles in the first quarter, a slight increase from the previous quarter, and up 68 percent from the previous year.

In January and February combined, the Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai exported over 70,000 cars to overseas markets. The first two months also saw domestic sales reach 59,846 cars and 56,515 cars respectively.

A recent spike in COVID cases in Shanghai has led to staggered citywide lockdown since the end of March and has continued into April. Tesla has yet to respond whether its Shanghai-based production has been consequently halted when approached by China Daily on Wednesday.

In late March, Tesla opened its fourth Gigafactory factory in Berlin, expecting it to produce up to 500,000 vehicles annually.
