SAIC Motor's Lin-gang automobile plant in Shanghai has produced over 700 vehicles as of Saturday after it resumed operation on Tuesday, said a passenger car manager of China's biggest automaker.

"We planned ahead of the epidemic outbreak, so we have more workers staying in the factory," said Ji Qiwei, deputy general manager of SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Corporation.

Ji is optimistic about SAIC Motor's export market and the car industry's future. "Boom will come after the downturn," he said, adding that the market demand is highly related to the population and overall economic performances.
